The Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry, one of the four core departments of Pharmaceutical Sciences deals with study of drugs derived from plants, animals and mineral sources. The department has university recognized post graduate (Master in Pharmacognosy) and doctoral research laboratory with adequate infrastructure.

The faculties of the department have expertise in various areas of phytoceutical research. The departmental research is not only limited to isolation, identification and interpretation of medicinally potential plant candidates with advanced analytical techniques but also deals with development and evaluation of novel drug delivery systems of botanicals for fatal disorders. Department have well equipped phytochemical laboratory with advanced analytical instruments like Flash chromatography and HPTLC.
