Although the subject of Pharmaceutical Analysis was a component of the curriculum ever since the inception of the institution, the department gained independent status after the commencement of M. Pharm. (Quality Assurance) in 1991. The department is now engaged in teaching and training undergraduate and post graduate students, in the subjects of analytical sciences pertaining to qualitative and quantitative estimation of drug substances and drug products. The department boasts of an inspired and enthusiastic faculty participating wholeheartedly in teaching learning process. Emphasis is laid on imparting hands on experience to students on equipments dealing with the techniques of chromatography and spectroscopy. Several automated instruments are now housed in a separate air-conditioned instrument room and regularly used to perform structured laboratory experiments. Experienced faculties in the department are striving hard to motivate and develop students – globally astute, technologically literate and operationally agile – in arena of advanced pharmaceutical analysis.

The Instrument Room is well equipped with various sophisticated instruments like UV spectrophotometer, FT-IR spectrometer, Spectrofluorimeter, High Performance Liquid Chromatograph, Gas Chromatograph, amongst several other commonly used equipments.

This state of art facility available in the institution facilitates Doctoral research, M. Pharm. post-graduate research and regular studies by staff, scholars and students on every facet of analytical research.
